MADISON, Wis. -- Governor Tony Evers announced Monday nearly $1.3 million in grants to support quality of life, foster economic development, protect and improve the Great Lakes resources, and create resiliency in Wisconsin’s coastal communities.

Evers said the grants will be administered by the Wisconsin Department of Administration's Wisconsin Coastal Management Program to be used by local, state, and tribal governments, regional planning commissions, universities, and nonprofit organizations. The investments will ensure the protection of shoreline communities and promote long-term growth for the Great Lakes.

DOA secretary Kathy Blumenfeld said the grants will expand public access to Wisconsin's lakes, encourage sustainable use practices, foster community development, improve habitat restoration, and address pollution.
