WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah ( ABC4 ) — Officials asked drivers and residents to avoid the area of Brookside in southern Utah after a fire broke out on Saturday afternoon.

Around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office posted on social media to inform the public about a fire near Brookside.

Fire crews and deputies from the sheriff’s office were at the scene to fight the blaze, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

“Please be patient as some roads may need to be intermittently closed for responder access,” the sheriff’s office said. “If you see fire hoses across roadways please do not drive across them.”

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately disclose if the fire was a wildfire or a structure fire.

There is no further information at this time.
