Team USA narrowly escaped with a victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating South Sudan in an exhibition match.

While the outcome of the game was essentially meaningless, the heavy favorites coming this close to a loss is a huge concern. Despite worries nearly across the board, Philadelphia 76ers' Joel Embiid is finally making some positive strides.

He found himself the victim of heavy criticism up to this point in the summer, but it seems the 30-year-old is turning a new leaf. He recorded 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists on 5 of 6 shooting with an impressive +15 +/-. It wasn't all positive from the Sixers big man, as multiple lowlights made the rounds on social media throughout the game.

Ultimately, it was LeBron James who sealed the game for the USA, driving and scoring with less than 10 seconds left. The final score was 101-100. Team USA will look to return with an authoritative victory against Germany on July 22.
