    WOWK Chief Political Reporter Mark Curtis honored

    CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — 13 News Chief Political Reporter Mark Curtis will recognized at the 60th Annual Ohio Valley NATAS Emmy Gala Saturday Night.

    On June 10, 2024, it was announced Curtis was inducted into the National Academy of Television of Arts and Sciences’ Silver Circle.

    The honor is given to those with 25 years or more of experience in television. The committee that oversees the induction process looks for those with service to the television and media industries, service to the community, and service to people working in or training for careers in television, according to the NATAS website .

    “This is the best newsroom with the best group of people I have ever worked with,” said Curtis. “I just appreciate all of you. I’m really proud of the work we turn out here.”

    This wasn’t the only honor WOWK and Curtis received by the NATAS. “Inside West Virginia Politics” was nominated for Interview/Discussion – Short or Long Form Content, and Pat Simon was nominated in the Human Interest – News (Single Shift) category for “Quilts of Kindness. West Virginia Teens Make Blankets for the Brave.”
