My Own Pizza Bringing Nostalgic Charm to Connecticut Avenue

The DC pizza scene abhors a void, so one of the District’s top hospitality professionals is bringing hot, delicious pies back to Connecticut Avenue. My Own Pizza, from the minds behind Z Burger and Maman Joon, will soon be serving slices in the neighborhood, reports local media outlet PoPville .

Founded and owned by Peter Tabibian, My Own Pizza aims to bring the classic New York pizzeria experience to its newest home at 1745 Connecticut Avenue, NW. The space is well-suited to the concept, having previously housed Flippin Pizza, which closed in April of 2023.

An opening timeline is not currently available, though the project seems to be in the early stages. No visible signs indicate that construction has yet commenced. What Now DC has reached out to management but has not yet heard back.

My Own Pizza currently has one operational location at 400 C Street, SW. Tabibian’s objective is to transport diners to a simpler time through delicious pizza and a welcoming atmosphere. The website neatly sums up My Own Pizza’s mission statement, saying: “Expect great food and a warm family atmosphere of days long gone. Turn off your electronic devices, step back in time, and sit down and enjoy conversation and food with your neighbors as food is meant to be experienced.”
