Matches to Make After UFC on ESPN 60

The Ultimate Fighting Championship ’s latest card featured an intriguing strawweight main event. The UFC on ESPN 60 headliner saw 115-pound contenders Virna Jandiroba and Amanda Lemos clash in a grappling-heavy tussle that lasted under two rounds. Much more exciting than it was on paper, the main card featured several standout performances that have us interested in what the victors will do next.

Here are five matches to make following UFC on ESPN 60.

Virna Jandiroba vs. Weili Zhang

Jandiroba (21-3) cemented herself as a top contender with a submission win over Lemos (14-4-1). "Carcara" caught her opponent in a tight armbar late in Round 2 that forced her foe to submit. The Brazilian has now won four straight fights and is a fresh opponent for Weili Zhang . The Chinese champion is on an impressive four-fight win streak herself and has faced most of the strawweight elite. This would be an excellent title defense between two women that have the ability to finish.

Steve Garcia vs. Dan Ige

Garcia has quickly become a fan-favorite inside the UFC with his aggressive style. Seung Woo Choi learned of his opponent's abilities the hard way and was dispatched in just over a minute and a half with an onslaught of punches . After the win, Garcia (16-5) called out the similarly hard-hitting Ige and sign me up for that. Ige is looking to rebound after his extremely late notice fight against Diego Lopes and a fight between the two featherweights would be guaranteed fireworks.

Kurt Holobaugh vs. Nurullo Aliev

Holobaugh was able to outwork Kaynan Kruschewsky over three rounds to earn a unanimous decision victory. Holobaugh (20-8, 1 NC) is now 2-1 inside the UFC during his second stint. “The Hurt” won’t suddenly emerge as a title contender at 37, but he can provide a tough test for younger fighters and be used as a measuring stick. Enter the 9-0 Aliev, who won his Octagon debut last year against Rafael Alves . The "Tajik Eagle" is an intriguing prospect at just 23 and this would allow him to go up against a much more experienced veteran.

Bruno Silva vs. Tatsuro Taira

Silva pulled off an impressive comeback win over Cody Durden after landing a damaging uppercut in the second round. Silva (14-5-2, 1 NC) has now won four straight fights inside the Octagon. That means a high-profile fight is next and a bout against undefeated flyweight prospect Taira would be a good one. The 16-0 Japanese fighter is coming off a win over Alex Perez would be prime for a top contender if he can put away “Bulldog.”

Doo Ho Choi vs. Darren Elkins

Choi emerged with his hand raised after putting away Bill Algeo with a stinging left hook in the second round. "The Korean Superboy" needed a win as his last in the promotion was in 2016. Made out of nonstop excitement, let’s keep Choi (15-4-1) active and have him go up against another fan-favorite in Elkins, who most recently submitted T.J .Brown and is never in a dull fight. The featherweight battle would be a blast for as long as it lasts.
