    Richard Simmons' team shares final snap that fitness guru planned to post before death

    Richard Simmons ' team honored him by revealing a previously unpublished post to fans. The star died just one day after his 76th birthday on July 13, merely hours after he posted some grateful words on X, formerly known as Twitter .

    Following his passing, his team posted a photo of Richard wearing a NASA space suit. They explained: "Richard worked very hard on his posts for you. He had many ideas and would work ahead… going back to each one making changes until he had it just like he wanted before posting."

    They decided to upkeep a tradition Richard had where "he would just share a photo with a caption" during the weekend. They added: "He always chose his photos and wrote his captions for the upcoming weekend by Friday. So we have the post Richard planned to share with you last Sunday. We thought you’d want to see it."

    Richard's team shared the photo, including the planned caption. He wrote: “Let me fly you to the moon so we can gaze among the stars. Love, Richard”

    The touching words left fans in shambles as they mourned the loss of the fitness guru. One replied. "Thank you for posting this! It will be nice to have a memory of him in his later years. Such a beautiful soul, inside and out." Another added: "He was a lovely human. He made exercising fun for us couch potatoes. A bright star in my life. gone too soon. May his memory be your blessing."

    A third said: My heart is broken, I always had love & respect for Richard. He wrote me a card once when I was ill with cancer. I will never forget his kindness to me, a nobody. Godspeed Richard, Rest in Power."

    Richard was best known for his fitness videos that were full of upbeat and positive energy. He encouraged others to live their healthiest lives.

    His cause of death was not immediately known. Police do not suspect foul play, but rather natural causes. Nonetheless, the investigation was reportedly deferred which can take months to wrap up.

    Sending a kind memory Richard's way, a fan wrote: "I met you once in the 1990s. You came to counsel the father of a friend of my sisters. You were in Omaha NE for a radio promo with Sweet98. You were one of the kindest adults I had met as a child. I'm sure those who knew you would call it a privilege. RIP Richard."
