Lobster mini-season is always the last consecutive Wednesday and Thursday of July each year, so July 24-25 in 2024, July 23-24 in 2025, July 22-23 in 2026, and so on. Here are five things to know:

    • Statewide harvest: The Florida Keys are known for spiny lobsters, but they can be caught north to Port Canaveral and west to St. Petersburg.
    • Requirements: You need a saltwater fishing license ($17) and lobster stamp ($5).
    • Daily bag limit: 12 per person, but only 6 in the Florida Keys
    • Size limit: The carapace must be over 3 inches and you must measure while you're in the water
    • No eggs: You must release egg-bearing females
