The Vampire Diaries aired 171 episodes over eight seasons on the CW from September 10, 2009, until March 10, 2017. The action occurred in Mystic Falls, Virginia, while the pilot was shot in Vancouver, British Columbia. The series, however, was not filmed in the Old Dominion.

Although Mystic Falls sounds like a small town tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains or along the Appalachain Trail, you will never find it in the Commonwealth because Mystic Falls, Virginia, is not an actual location. Every episode of The Vampire Diaries was filmed in Covington, Georgia, near Atlanta.

Virginia has many beautiful towns and waterfalls, but none are named "Mystic Falls." The closest thing you will find is the area in Covington, GA, where The Vampire Diaries was filmed.
