Mike Tyson has humorously invited Jake Paul to his own "wake" as he starts the countdown to their rescheduled boxing match in November.

The pair were originally set to face off this weekend, but Tyson had to delay the bout due to an ulcer flare-up. After Paul successfully defeated former UFC star and bare-knuckle boxer Mike Perry , Tyson took to social media to start a countdown to their fight.

"Countdown Begins," he penned. "118 days - 16 weeks and 6 days - 17 weekends - 2,832 hours - 169,920 minutes - 10,195,200 seconds Clock Starts Now #TysonPaul #TheClockIsTicking #JakesWake". Tyson also shared a video of himself watching the end of Paul's fight.

Following his victory over Perry, Paul sent a message to Tyson, stating: " Mike Tyson... you're next big boy, sign the contract, November 15 on Netflix. I'm excited for that one, I'm going to go home and prepare for that one. It's happening, Nov. 15, Mike Tyson is training, he's back, looking crazier than ever. I'm going to get another KO and prove everyone wrong once again. Everyone said I was an idiot for taking this fight, that I was risking it but this is why I'm here, I take big risks.", reports the Mirror .

The boxing world is buzzing with anticipation as Jake Paul threw down the gauntlet to Mike Tyson, declaring his respect but also his intent to dethrone the icon: "Mike, I love you but this is my sport, you're a legend, you're one of the two most famous boxers ever to live, you and Muhammad Ali. It's an honor to get in the ring with you. I'm so, so honored; you're a legend, but I'm going to take your throne, brother."

Tyson, who hasn't stepped into the ring since his 2020 draw with Roy Jones Jr and whose last pro fight was nearly two decades ago, is itching for a comeback despite a recent setback.

Tyson expressed his gratitude to his fans and explained the delay in his return: "I want to thank my fans around the world for their support and understanding during this time. Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flareup, I have been advised by my doctor to lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover."

He remains confident about his physical condition and promises a knockout comeback: "My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s and I will be back to my full training schedule soon. Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end, you will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good. I appreciate everyone's patience and can't wait to deliver an unforgettable performance later this year."
