Early Predictions For The 2024 NFL Season Awards

The NFL Season Awards is a highly debated topic in the sports world. Every year, fans get excited when a player they like wins or angry when they feel someone was robbed. It’s difficult to predict even down to the day of, but it’s never too early to make those predictions.

NFL Comeback Player Of The Year: QB Joe Burrow

While Aaron Rodgers might be the obvious choice here, Joe Burrow has an enormous mountain to climb. Rodgers is already considered an all-time great, so any return to form for him is expected. He was brought to New York to elevate the Jets and will likely do that. On the other hand, Burrow has been plagued with injuries for a large chunk of his career. People have doubted if he can consistently play at an elite level. If he can return to the “Joe Brrr,” he was in 2021 and made a strong playoff run, that could be more impressive than Rodgers in many ways.

NFL Coach Of The Year: Raheem Morris

Raheem Morris is taking over a new-look Atlanta Falcons this year. It's a team that was heavily criticized for bad coaching last season. Now he has veteran QB Kirk Cousins and first-round rookie QB Michael Penix Jr. With underutilized weapons like running back Bijan Robinson and tight end Kyle Pitts, Morris is walking into an extraordinary situation.

NFL Offensive Rookie Of The Year: WR Keon Coleman

Coleman was drafted in the second round of the 2024 draft and brought into a fairly depleted wide receiver room in Buffalo. The Bills have made moves to recover from losing Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, but Coleman shows a lot of promise in this new receiving group. With a personality that compliments Josh Allen’s, they should develop chemistry early on. Coleman could easily be Allen’s number one target this year. Buffalo is still a contending team with a top 5 quarterback, and Keon Coleman can benefit and thrive in this system.

NFL Defensive Rookie Of The Year: CB Cooper DeJean

Cornerback Cooper Dejean was a projected first-round pick in the 2024 draft. He fell to the second round and was taken by the Philadelphia Eagles. DeJean brings a much-needed boost to the Eagles secondary. In 2023, Cooper Dejean was a unanimous All-American and a Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year. The Eagles don’t have many holes on their roster, but they’ve worked hard to fill the ones they do have. Cooper DeJean fits into this scheme perfectly and he’s more than talented enough to take home Defensive Rookie of the Year

NFL Offensive Player Of The Year: WR Amon-Ra St. Brown

The Detroit Lions have completely turned their fortunes around in the last few years. Quarterback Jared Goff is having a career resurgence, and a large part of that is thanks to Amon-Ra St. Brown. St. Brown set a goal last season to surpass 1,500 receiving yards and ten touchdowns. Then he had an oblique injury in week 3, missed one game, and returned. He would go on to put up 1,515 yards and 20 touchdowns. He recently revealed he played the rest of the year with his oblique wholly torn off the bone. St. Brown was a massive part of Detroit's offensive success last year, and going into 2024, fully healthy should only improve his numbers.

NFL Defensive Player Of The Year: LB TJ Watt

The guy who should’ve won the award last year, TJ Watt, is currently in the prime of his career. He led the league last year in sacks with 19. He’s been a cornerstone for the Pittsburgh Steelers, which won’t change. The previous year’s DPOY race came down to Watt and Myles Garrett. Both were deserving, but with Pittsburgh improving during the offseason, Watt has even more opportunities to show out. It’ll be a close race again, but TJ Watt is too dominant to lose out on that award again.

NFL MVP: QB Patrick Mahomes

This one is extremely close every year. Patrick Mahomes is already a two-time MVP, and the Chiefs are in the middle of a dynasty. The Chiefs are reloading his offensive weapons this year, drafting Xavier Worthy and bringing in Marquise Brown. Mahomes has two fast receivers and Travis Kelce coming back. Kansas City has perfectly built around the best quarterback in the league, and they’re showing no signs of stopping. Mahomes is chasing history, and a third MVP before turning 30 would be a massive feather in his cap.
