Prince William and Kate Middleton Are Hiring—and the Job Requires a Skill That, Surprisingly, Neither of Them Have

If you've ever considered working for the royal family , now's your chance.
Prince William and Kate Middleton are hiring an assistant private secretary for their official post at Kensington Palace , and the role is about as important as it sounds. Per its description , the secretary "will lead the planning and delivery for most of TRH’s public engagements in Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, and contribute to the development of the Household’s strategy to maximise impact across the constituent nations of the UK, with a particular focus on Wales."
It also emphasizes that they're looking for someone with "excellent communication and organizational skills." Plus, a skill that neither the Prince nor Princess share—the ability to speak Welsh. Or converse fluently, at least, which is surprising since the couple lived there from 2010 to 2014.

In 2022, Prince William revealed he was polishing his Welsh skills after receiving his new title, Prince of Wales. While his fluency level is still unknown, this role is merely a way for the Prince and Princess to further strengthen bonds throughout Wales.
The timing of this inquiry for this new royal team member is also no coincidence. Since the Princess's announcement of her diagnosis at the start of the year, the pair have strayed slightly away from their usual social schedule and public life, until recently.
After attending Trooping the Colour in June and last week, Wimbledon, wearing nothing but smiles , Princess Catherine looks in better spirits and ready to take on more after her treatment recovery. The search to fill this role to boost their public appearances suggests just that.
