The New England Patriots have been looking for a wide receiver to take the top spot on their depth chart for a while now, and San Francisco 49ers' Brandon Aiyuk might be the perfect fit.

After Aiyuk officially requested a trade last week, another report serviced that the Patriots called the 49ers about the wideout sometime recently. Now, we seem to have exactly what New England offered San Francisco.

According to ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio , the Patriots offered the 49ers a second-round pick for Aiyuk prior to the 2024 NFL draft, but the deal was declined. It's known that New England was trying to move around in the draft to add a player at the position before they traded back and selected Ja'Lynn Polk out of Washington.

Florio also reported that New England was willing to give him an extension worth roughly $28 million per year.

If the possibility of a trade is back on the table, the Patriots have to pursue aggressively to get a target that will help their rookie quarterback adjust to the league.

In 62 career games over four years, Aiyuk has recorded 269 receptions for 3,931 yards and 25 touchdowns.
