Do Witches Float? Find Out in Macon this Fall (But Get Tickets Now!)

    2024-07-21

Who can forget the famous scene from Monty Python's The Holy Grail? If you haven't seen it, give it a go here. Throw someone in the water - if they float, they must be a witch. If they sink and drown, then oh well!

Does this method work? Of course it does. And if you want to find out which members of your family or friends are witches, head to Macon this October.

The annual Macon Witches Float event is happening on Sunday, October 6th from 3pm to 5:30pm on the Ocmulgee River in Macon. It's a casual, fun, river float event benefiting a good cause.

"We are thrilled to host the iconic Macon Witches Float this October," says Hailie Poppell, Board President of Macon Periods Easier. "Start shopping for your best witch outfit now and pick out your flotation device. Last year, we had a record number in attendance, but this year we are hoping to have over 200 witches floating down the river!"

Participants are encouraged to come dressed in their most enchanting costumes and bring non-motorized flotation devices. For those without their own, rentals are available from Ocmulgee Outdoor Expeditions.

The event starts at the Amerson River Park Jay Hall Memorial Canoe Launch and ends at the Bragg Jam South River access where shuttles will take you back.

Tickets available here. All proceeds benefit Macon Periods Easier, and organization dedicated to helping middle-Georgia families get through periods of financial difficulty.
