East Texas representatives react to Biden dropping out of 2024 presidential race

TYLER, Texas ( KETK ) – Reactions are pouring in from across the country after President Joe Biden announced that he will no longer be seeking reelection to a second term on Sunday.

Biden’s bombshell announcement comes after weeks of speculation about his ability to win the election started up in the wake of this year’s first presidential debate back on June 27.

KETK has put together the following list of reactions from East Texas representatives and other current and former officials:

“This doesn’t change a thing. Whoever comes next for the Democrats will embrace the same failed Biden policies,” said U.S. House Rep for Tyler, Nathaniel Moran. “Let’s keep pressing the right messages—(1) secure our border (2) reduce spending, debt, and regulations (3) free up our energy sector (4) show strength in the world.”

“Blue privilege. Democrat elites sent ordinary Democrat voters to the kids’ table so that a handful of donors and insiders can decide who they want to lead the party,” said Texas State House Representative Matt Schaefer of Tyler.

“If President Biden is unfit to run, he is unfit to lead. He must step down immediately,” said U.S Congressman for Mineola, Athens and Terrell, Lance Gooden said.

“Democrats saying they were surprised at Biden‘s awful debate performance is as believable as the Israelites saying we were just hanging around and this golden calf jumped out,” said Smith County Republican Party chairman David Stein said.

“If Dems think trading Biden for his failed Border Czar is going to change anything, they’re dreaming. Under her “leadership” criminals and terrorists stream across our wide-open border & fentanyl continues to kill thousands of innocent Americans. If she can’t fix the border, how is she going to run the country? Kamala Harris is even more radical, more extreme and less competent than Joe Biden. And if Pres. Biden is not competent to run for reelection, he should step down from the presidency,” said U.S. Senator for Texas, John Cornyn.

“It looks more and more like that very early debate was a set up to force Biden to step aside. Today’s announcement may not have happened without that disastrous debate,” said Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

“Crooked Joe Biden was not fit to run for President, and is certainly not fit to serve – And never was! He only attained the position of President by lies, Fake News, and not leaving his Basement. All those around him, including his Doctor and the Media, knew that he wasn’t capable of being President, and he wasn’t – And now, look what he’s done to our Country, with millions of people coming across our Border, totally unchecked and unvetted, many from prisons, mental institutions, and record numbers of terrorists. We will suffer greatly because of his presidency, but we will remedy the damage he has done very quickly. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
