Ahead of the 2024 Presidential Election, Rhode Island has 723,135 registered active voters, as of July 2024, according to the Secretary of State's website.

That's out of a 1,095,962 total population, and 779,607 total voter records in the state.

Here's how Rhode Island's registered voter demographic breaks down, and how it compares to the November 2020 Presidential election:

How many total registered voters are there in Rhode Island? How many are active vs. inactive?

According to the latest data published by Rhode Island's Secretary of State Gregg Amore, there are 779,607 total voter records in Rhode Island as of July 2024. But not everyone in that number is an active voter.

Breaking down the numbers further, there are:

    • 723,135 total active voters
    • 51,686 inactive voter registrations
    • 4,786 pending voter records

According to the SOS website, 97% of Rhode Island's voter roll is in active status.

How many Democrats and Republicans are in Rhode Island?

Rhode Island is a heavily Democratic-led state, with only a handful of Republicans occupying elected office.

That is reflected in Rhode Island's party affiliation breakdown. Here's what that looks like for each party:

    • 38% or 278,374 voters are registered as Democrats in Rhode Island
    • 14% or 103,216 voters are registered as Republicans in Rhode Island

How many unaffiliated voters are there in Rhode Island?

Continuing Rhode Island's fierce tradition of independence, most of Rhode Island's voters are registered as unaffiliated, and unaffiliated voters represent nearly half of all of Rhode Island's registered voters

    • 47% or 341,542 voters are registered as unaffiliated in Rhode Island

How many registered voters were there for the Nov. 2020 election?

According to records on the Secretary of State's website, in Nov. 2020 there were 732,125 registered active voters in Rhode Island – more than there are currently ahead of the 2024 election.

When is the deadline to registered to vote for the 2024 election in Rhode Island?

According to Rhode Island's 2024 election calendar, Oct. 5 is the last day to register to vote in the Nov. 5 2024 general election.

Additionally, Oct. 15 is the last day to submit a mail ballot application.

And early voting starts on Oct. 16.
