“AGT”: Brooke Bailey’s “Spectacular” Aretha Franklin Cover Will Give You Goosebumps

Brooke Bailey’s AGT cover of Ain’t No Way by Aretha Franklin sent shivers down our spines.

On Saturday, July 20, the America’s Got Talent YouTube page dropped an early release video of Brooke’s stunning Season 19 audition. In it, the young music major captivated Howie Mandel, Sofía Vergara, Simon Cowell, and Heidi Klum with her soulful rendition of the 1968 hit.

Brooke also won the hearts of the audience members, many of whom were crying by the end of the performance. After Brooke sang her final note, she was crying with them.

“This means a lot to you, doesn’t it?” Simon asked as she dried her tears.

“Yeah,” she answered with a smile.

“I can tell,” said Simon.

Brooke Bailey Earned Four Yeses For A Chance To Appear In The “AGT” Live Episodes

The judges happily shared all the reasons they loved Brooke Bailey’s audition, with Heidi admitting the singer had her “right at the beginning.”

“You do belong on this stage—my favorite audition of the day today, by far,” she praised.

“I think you have an amazing instrument,” added Howie. “Your voice is really good. You’re a really good singer, and I think you have a future ahead of you. I really liked it.

Sofía marveled at Brooke’s beautiful voice and the emotion she put into the song.

“It’s spectacular,” she gushed.

Simon was the last to speak before the judges made their final votes, and the former music exec was ready to give her career tips before she even learned her fate on the show.

“What I would say, if you go any further, I would definitely have a band behind you because I think you’re the kind of artist who would be best where you don’t have the structure of a backing track. And I really like you as a person,” he admitted.

With no Golden Buzzers left this season, Brooke didn’t have a chance for a straight shot to the live rounds. But she easily earned four yeses from the judges, nonetheless.
