Should Biden drop out?: How Mich. voters responded

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — President Joe Biden announced this Sunday that he is dropping out of the 2024 presidential race .

Democratic lawmakers have been calling for Biden to step aside for weeks now, but how are potential voters likely to feel about the move?

A new EPIC-MRA poll of 600 actively and likely Michigan voters, conducted from July 13-17, happens to have been released Sunday. One of the questions in the poll:

“Because of a widely held view that Joe Biden performed poorly in the first debate due to his age, frail appearance, and periodic cognitive difficulties, editorial boards of several major newspapers and other commentators–including many elected Democrats–have called for Joe Biden to step aside and let the Democratic convention nominate a younger, more mentally agile candidate to run against Donald Trump. What do you think? Should Joe Biden step aside and NOT continue his campaign to be reelected as President, or should he continue to run as the Democratic nominee?”
