    How to register to vote in Virginia

    RICHMOND, Va. ( DC News Now ) — The 2024 Presidential Election is set to take place on Nov. 5. In order to cast a ballot, you’ll need to make sure you’re registered or that you’ve updated your existing registration. (Nothing surprising there.)

    Here’s some important information to get you to the polls on (or before) Election Day.

    First off, the first day of in-person early voting at your registrar’s office in Virginia is Sept. 20, 2024. You can find informatino about your local office here .

    If you need to register to vote or update your registration , the deadline technically is Oct. 15, 2024, but you may register after that date and through Election Day, and vote using a provisional ballot.

    The deadline to apply for a ballot to be mailed to you is Oct. 25, 2024. Your local voter registration office has to receive your request by 5 p.m. that day.

    Voter registration offices open for early voting on Oct. 26, 2024.

    The last day of early voting at your voter registration office is Nov. 2, 2024 at 5 p.m.
