TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis reacted to President Joe Biden ending his re-election campaign by attacking Vice President Kamala Harris, who many are endorsing to be the new Democratic nominee.

“Kamala Harris was complicit in a massive coverup to hide and deny the fact that Joe Biden was not capable of discharging his duties of the office,” DeSantis said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. “She also was the border czar during the worst border crisis in American history.”

“Democrats are just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic,” DeSantis said.

DeSantis, who at one point was a candidate to be the Republican nominee for president, last week said that he hoped Biden stayed in the race . DeSantis suspended his presidential campaign ahead of the New Hampshire primary and endorsed Donald Trump after failing to gain any momentum .

Harris said it is her intention to “earn and win” the nomination , while thanking Biden for his “decades of service to our country.”

“I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party — and unite our nation — to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda,” Harris said. “We have 107 days until Election Day. Together, we will fight. And together, we will win.”
