Maryland has 63 delegates to the Democratic National Convention scheduled next month in Chicago. While some candidates for convention delegate ran under an "uncommitted" label, all those who were actually elected were committed to President Biden.
Delegates are selected according to district. District 6, which includes Washington County, has six delegates. None of them are from Washington County.
Sixth District delegate 'still grieving' the loss of Biden as candidate
Maryland state Sen. Karen Lewis Young (D-Frederick) is one of six Biden delegates from Maryland's 6th Congressional District heading to the national convention next month.
Lewis Young told the Frederick News-Post on Sunday that she was "still grieving" the loss of Biden as the 2024 Democratic nominee for the presidency.
"Whenever people asked me what I thought he would do, I always said I was 100% confident that Joe Biden will do what is best for this country and not just his personal ambitions," Lewis Young said.

Asked whether she would support Harris as the party's new nominee, Lewis Young told the News-Post it was too soon to commit either way.
But she said she planned to support Harris as Biden's running mate and would be "favorably inclined" to support her as the presidential nominee if directed to do so by Biden.
"I am a committed Biden delegate, and my word is my honor," Lewis Young said. "But my gut reaction is that I will do what Biden asks me to do."

In District 1, which also has six delegates, Laurie Anne Brittingham is from Worcester County and Connor A. Romblad, Sheree Sample-Hughes and Jared Schablein are from Wicomico County.
