A 36-year-old man was arrested on felony charges including kidnapping and first degree homicide after a vehicle chase heading toward Mount Lemmon resulted in a woman's death on Saturday.

At about 6:20 p.m., Pima County Sheriff's deputies responded to the area near Catalina Highway and Melpomene Way for a report of a domestic violence incident.

A woman reported that she was in the car with her boyfriend, headed toward Mount Lemmon, and that he had taken an illegal drug and would not let her out of the car, officials said.

Deputies located the car and attempted a traffic stop but the driver would not comply, officials said. A short pursuit ensured with speeds between 25-45 miles per hour.

Eventually, the woman jumped from the moving vehicle, ending the pursuit, officials said. The woman was critically injured and transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died.

Deputies reported that they relocated the suspect vehicle with a flat tire and the driver was taken into custody.

The driver, who police identified as William Holloway, was arrested on charged of domestic violence kidnapping, first degree homicide, and unlawful flight from law enforcement. He was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Complex.
