Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said she is fully prepared to campaign for Vice President Kamala Harris, whom President Joe Biden endorsed Sunday to replace him as the Democratic presidential nominee.

Warren told Politico that she was on a flight with no internet when Biden announced he is leaving the 2024 presidential contest against former President Donald Trump. Warren said she learned the news upon landing and is “prepared to help the VP do whatever is necessary to get her elected.”

Warren ran against both Biden and Harris in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary, and is now joining a rapidly growing group of Democrats backing the vice president for the party’s nomination.

According to Politico, Warren has one question for Democrats skeptical of Harris’ ability to defeat Trump: “Who better to take on a convicted felon than a former prosecutor?”

The senator later released a more detailed statement on Biden’s decision and why she is endorsing Harris to replace him at the top of the ticket.

“She is a proven fighter who has been a national leader in safeguarding consumers and protecting access to abortion,” Warren posted on social media , highlighting issues she often focuses on in the Senate.

“As a former prosecutor, she can press a forceful case against allowing Donald Trump to regain the White House,” Warren continued. “We have many talented people in our party, but Vice President Harris is the person who was chosen by the voters to succeed Joe Biden if needed. She can unite our party, take on Donald Trump, and win in November.”

After receiving Biden’s endorsement, Harris said she would work to “earn and win” the Democratic nomination, and that she will “do everything in my power” to unite the party.

“We have 107 days until Election Day,” Harris said in a statement. “Together, we will fight. And together, we will win.”
