Johnson, VT – Thousands gathered in Johnson for the Lamoille County Field Days, an annual tradition in the county since the 1960s. Attendance was strong for the fair, something Lamoille County Field Days Vice President Roger Audet noted Sunday as the festivities came to a close.

“We had probably I would say 3,000 people or 4,000 people come through yesterday, and today looks well — fairly good crowd today, so we’re close to reaching 8,000 people for the three days,” Audet said. “We’d like to hit 9,000 if we could, but we’ll see what comes.”

From Friday, July 19 through Sunday, July 21, visitors enjoyed many of the fair’s traditional agricultural competitions and displays like tractor pulls and livestock shows. Audet said events like these usually draw the largest crowds at the event.

“The horse pull was very big yesterday, had some very good, very expensive horses in here and I think it was one of the biggest crowds we’ve had,” Audet continued. “Today they’re doing the pony pulls, the 4-H had a dairy show yesterday — that was good, good turnout.”

The Field Days also boasted the usual fair rides and games, for those craving more speed than a tractor can offer. Dustin Mason attended the Field Days seeking just that.

“My favorite [ride] has got to be the Hurricane,” Mason said of one of the rides. “It’s so fun when it goes around.”

Mason attended two of the three Field Days, and noted the sense of community it offers.

“It’s really nice that they have this every year, and that we can just come out on these really nice days in the summer and have some fun with our friends,” he added.
