(FOX40.COM) — The search continues for missing ‘jeeper’ Warren Elliott, 70, in the Rubicon Springs area, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

Elliot was reported missing on Friday after last being seen along the Rubicon trail that afternoon.

Deputies said Elliott was last seen wearing a blue denim short-sleeved shirt and blue denim shorts. The sheriff’s office also described Elliott as a “jeeper” instead of a hiker.

On Monday, the sheriff’s office shared that Elliot was working on improvements along the popular off-roading trail ahead of the Jeep Jamboree.

He was a passenger in his son’s Jeep and walked away as work was going on Friday.

Search teams are being brought into the search area by California and Nevada National Guard Blackhawk helicopters.

“This is a very technical search, in tough terrain. It can be dangerous for those who are not highly trained with the right equipment,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a news release on Monday. “Because of the difficulty accessing the area, crews are being brought in by Blackhawk helicopters.”
