Andrew Garfield's girlfriend has shared her frustration over the "misogynistic" views leveled at her relationship with the Spiderman actor .

Kate, who is an author podcaster and self-described "spiritual mentor" vented her annoyance at the public's tendency to focus on her relationship with the Hollywood actor as opposed to her career achievements.

In a new interview with The Sunday Times , Kate 42, told the UK outlet: "It’s frustrating that no matter how accomplished or impactful a woman is, it’s always going to be more interesting if they are in a relationship with a man."

She added: "I don’t want to sit under anybody’s shadow." Kate also shared how she's navigated having their relationship be under the glare of the media spotlight.

Speaking about the paparazzi specifically, she vented: "They will take maybe 150 pictures, then they choose the four where you look worst."

She then went on to detail her frustrations of the "misogynistic nature" of people wanting to know about her as Andrew Garfield's girlfriend, rather than her own being.

Kate said this manifests "criticism of how a woman looks" and "what [she] does for work". Kate and Andrew were first linked back in March of this year when the pair were spotted holding hands in Malibu, California.

At the time, they appeared to be on a double date with Phoebe Bridgers and Bo Burnham. Andrew is known to keep his relationships private and out of the public eye.

He was previously linked to model Alyssa Miller, whom he is said to have dated from 2021-2022. Arguably his most famous relationship was that with his former Spiderman co-star, Emma Stone, whom he dated in the 2010s.

Andrew famously returned to the Spiderverse alongside fellow former Spiderman Tobey Maguire in 2021's Spiderman: No Way Home, with a small appearance. Tobey handed the baton on to Andrew before Andrew handed it over to Tom Holland, who famously starred in the superhero movies alongside Zendaya, with the pair striking up a real-life romance.

When asked if he would ever properly return to the character, Andrew, 40, said to Variety in 2022: "I mean, yes, definitely open to something if it felt right. Peter and Spider-Man, those characters are all about service, to the greater good and the many.

"He’s a working-class boy from Queens that knows struggle and loss and is deeply empathetic. I would try to borrow Peter Parker’s ethical framework in that, if there was an opportunity to step back in and tell more of that story, I would have to feel very sure and certain in myself."
