    Monroe County students earn scholarships, make dean's lists

    MONROE COUNTY — Monroe County students recently earned scholarships and made dean's lists at U.S. colleges and universities.

    Jonah Hiatt and Hailey Root received the annual $1,000 Bonnie Finzel-Doster Monroe/Lenawee County AFL-CIO CLC Memorial Scholarship.

    Kennedy Bowling of Carleton received the $5,000 2024 Charles River Associates All-Access Scholarship; the $2,500 Always Dreaming Scholarship Grant; the $600 MENSA Diana Mossip Memorial Scholarship; and the $5,000 Wayne State University Women of Wayne Scholarship.

    The Foundation at Monroe County Community College awarded several scholarships:

    Aleigha Hunt of Petersburg received the $900 Michael Grodi Memorial Scholarship.

    Jackson Angerer of Petersburg received the $950 Lakewood Machine Products Co./Howard J. Morrin Memorial Welding Scholarship.

    Katie Stevens of Dundee received the $1,500 Pearl K. Quermbach Memorial Scholarship.

    Winzor Martson of Temperance was awarded the $1,250 Former Bedford Rotarians and Friends Scholarship.

    Rhianna Kriska of Trenton received the $1,225 Jeremy Bruce Memorial Scholarship.

    Destiny Cox of Flat Rock received the $1,250 American Association of University Women Wyandotte Downriver Foundation Scholarship.

    Grace Dougherty of Temperance received the $1,750 Kirwen and Karau Scholarship.

    Nathaniel Morgan of Monroe received the $2,150 Karen Karau-Collins Memorial Scholarship.

    Mary Bayus of Trenton received the $2,650 Patricia A. Vajcner Memorial Scholarship.

    Emily Walrath of Monroe received the $700 Graceful Memories Scholarship.

    Skylar Gerweck-Myers of Monroe received the $1,600 President Emeritus Dr. Ronald Campbell and Blondelle Campbell Scholarship.

    Hesse Sambaan of Temperance received the $1,725 Richard H. Hicks and Bernice Hicks Nursing Education Scholarship.

    Claudia Biundo of Monroe received the $1,600 Marvin and Jean Baumann Family Scholarship.

    Kaitlyn Cronenwett of Newport, Abagale Huff of Carleton, Cheyene Rutherford of Temperance, Erika Troyer of Carleton, Mary Valentine of Dundee and Deborah White of Westland each received a $2,200 Eugene and Helen Beach Nursing/Respiratory Therapy Scholarship.

    Raelynn Runyon of Monroe received the $1,750 Hallie H. Billmire Scholarship.

    Dean's lists

    Britton Johnson of Carleton is on the dean's list for the spring semester at Purchase College, Purchase, N.Y. Johnson is studying dance.

    Jenna Blevins of South Rockwood is on the spring dean's list at Seton Hall University, South Orange, N.J.

    Several area students made the dean's list for the spring term at Kalamazoo College. They are: Braeden Lavis of Rockwood, Zachary Heikka of Milan and Blu Haney of Woodhaven.

    Cale Piedmonte-Lang of Monroe is on the dean's list for the spring semester at Hamilton College, Clinton, N.Y. Piedmonte-Lang, a rising junior, is majoring in neuroscience.
