White House Correspondent Hits RNC With Blunt Fact-Check On Kamala Harris Clip

A White House correspondent shut down an attempt to criticize Kamala Harris on Sunday after a Republican National Committee -linked account seemingly mocked the vice president over her introduction at a 2022 roundtable.

The RNC “research” feed, which is run by the committee and former President Donald Trump ’s campaign, posted footage of Harris sharing her pronouns and offering a description of her appearance in a blue suit as she spoke to disability rights advocates.

Andrew Feinberg, White House Correspondent for The Independent, wrote that he was the print pooler at the event as he offered context to the clip.

“She was talking to a room of disability activists, including people who are/were blind,” wrote Feinberg of the clip, which resurfaced after President Joe Biden announced his plans to drop out and endorsed Harris in the 2024 race.

Elon Musk , who shared a separate post featuring the clip, also appeared to criticize the vice president over her introduction.

“Imagine 4 years of this …,” wrote Musk, who recently endorsed Trump and pledged a reported $45 million a month to help his campaign.

Harris’ remarks made rounds among conservatives in 2022 with Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) knocking Harris on social media.

Disability rights groups previously weighed in on the clip including the American Association for People with Disabilities, which noted that visual descriptions are done to “ensure that everyone can have context that sighted people may take in visually.”

“We are glad to see this accessibility practice expanded in government, and hope to see more government leaders give visual self-descriptions in the future!” the group wrote in a thread on X at the time.

A spokesperson for the National Federation of the Blind told USA Today that it was “inappropriate” to attack Harris over the remarks due to her inclusive intent.

“A lot of the people who are attacking don’t have the perspective and lived experience of people with disabilities and have never asked us,” said Chris Danielsen, who noted that it’s unclear how much blind people request the practice.
