CAMBRIDGE − Trinity Werning is tackling transportation issues as the new mobility coordinator for the Guernsey County Community Development Corp. (CDC).

Wehring is a graduate of Caldwell High School, where she was a Zane State CCP student. She graduated in 2022 with an associate of arts degree and an associate of science degree. She then worked at Peoples Bank where she realized her desire to help her elderly clients.

When the mobility coordinator position opened up in April, she knew it would be a good fit.

Werning helps people get ramps, driver's licenses

She currently has multiple requests to install ramps in residents' homes. One of her tasks is to find funding to pay for those ramps.

Another issue that Werning is working on is helping people get their driver's licenses. Finding funding for driver's education classes, getting individuals to the license agency and making sure they have a vehicle to take the test in, are all problems she can help solve.

"I'm a troubleshooter for those types of issues. I am a resource locator but sometimes lately there's been a little bit of a misunderstanding that I am the resource, but I actually go out and find the resource," she said.

Working on these types of projects often means Werning is asking businesses for donations, but it also can grow into creating a program to help solve those problems. It isn't as easy as it sounds though.

"It's been tough. I've had people call me over things that just don't have the answer for," Werning said.

    Working with other agencies

Looking back over the last couple months while getting her feet wet, Werning said she has experienced more positive outcomes than negative. She has learned who in the community she can reach out to get assistance with issues. "It's not always me finding the solution myself. I can redirect it." This has led her to working with the Area Agency on Aging, the Guernsey County Board of Developmental Disabilities and other county organizations.

While Werning has transitioned into the role, she said her biggest help has been her mentor, Tracy Haines with the Coshocton County Transit Agency. Haines has been with her agency for 18 years and has given advice and guidance as Werning has needed.

People wishing to contact Werning or the GCCDC with a transportation or mobility issue can call or text 740-801-2449.
