As fate would have it, I’m once again obsessed with the It store of my past: Abercrombie & Fitch. Not only do they have the best basics in town (hello, linen shorts and jeans ), but they also have an impressive menswear collection that PureWow Assistant Editor Delia Curtis approves of and a plus-size selection as well. Though the iconic brand has an expansive collection, their dresses are where they shine IMO. After careful consideration of customer reviews and best sellers, I compiled a list of the 14 best dresses at Abercrombie & Fitch for any occasion, from a relaxing weekend off to a snazzy black-tie event
1. This workout dress is consistently one of the most popular pieces at Abercrombie & Fitch, and I *know* it’s worth the hype once my colleagues sing its praises. It’s stretchy and soft, thanks to the blend of nylon, elastane and polyester, and the shoulder straps are adjustable. There's also built-in shorts underneath the dress and a hidden pocket that can hold your cellphone, credit cards and keys while you’re on the go. It’s one of those comfy dresses you can wear anytime and anywhere, whether you're making your way through an airport, headed to the tennis courts or simply grabbing coffee around the neighborhood.
“Such a great dress,” gushes Abercrombie & Fitch customer Noelle G. “I love the adjustable tie straps, and it’s a great fit—[it’s] fitted at the top and flows at the bottom. [It’s] literally flattering on everyone.” Indeed, a poplin maxi dress is one of the best dresses to own, especially on those days when you can’t be bothered to put an outfit together. The flowy frock features a ruched bodice and back smocking, so it has some give around your stomach. And the straps have ties that are decorative and can be adjusted to your liking.
This may be the best item to come out of the whole butter yellow trend that's currently taking off. The slim-fitting maxi is finished in a shiny satin fabric that looks like it came straight from the set of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days , and the draw-dropping plunge neck *and* back is chef’s kiss. “It’s the most flattering silky satin dress you can find,” gushes Abercrombie & Fitch reviewer Natalie B. “The way the dress is cut only accentuates the right parts of you! You have to get it before it’s gone.”
If you're a fan of the ‘90s minimalism revival, then you’ll adore this high-neck sweater dress. It’s slim-fitting and has a regal high-neck that’ll look stunning when worn on its own, or underneath a blazer or trench. That’s not all, the soft and stretchy fabric is ribbed all-over and there’s a thigh-high slit that makes walking easier. It’s “classy, beautiful, stretchy, and comfortable,” as one shopper says, and because it’s comprised of a knit fabric, it’ll make a great transition piece come the cooler months.
Now here’s a dress fit for an engagement party or wedding, ladies. The luxe satin fabric, the flattering square neckline, the column-silhouette, the side slit...need I say more? It’s such a classy dress that’s in no way dowdy or old fashioned.
Possibly my favorite of the bunch (don’t tell the others) , this mini dress reminds me a lot of another A&F dress I own that’s no longer sold. It has a lightweight textured fabric that looks so airy and breezy, plus, a ruched bodice with tie-front details that have absolutely stolen my heart. It’s one of those dresses that’s undeniably adorable and oh-so comfy. I’d pair it with some cowboy boots for a feminine-meets-rustic moment.
A black-tie event calls for something elegant and regal. Something exactly like this off-the-shoulder midi dress, which is made from a taffeta fabric that’s stretchy and iridescent. No need to worry about it’s functionality; it has a slit on the side that’ll give you the freedom to dance the night away. “This dress has an absolutely stunning cut. The bust is a little tight but the way it's shaped is perfect,” says one customer.
As far as T-shirt dresses go, this one takes the cake. “I'm a sucker when it comes to T-shirt dresses and when I saw a linen one, I knew I had to have it,” says one buyer. “It is a little short. I got the regular length. I'm 5’2 and it's still a tad short, but not bad for me...I got it in my normal size and this will be something I will be wearing everywhere this summer.” For the taller gals, I suggest you get the tall length for a few extra inches at the hem. It has a boxy fit that’s meant to be super relaxed, so it’s the perfect dress to wear on days when you have decision fatigue or feel bloated.
ICYDK, this is the best-selling Emerson dress , aka the dress that made Senior Commerce Editor Stephanie Maida feel like she was a character in Bridgerton. She says, “ This dress has everything . Princess sleeves. A ruched bodice. Back smocking. Pockets! But I can confirm that its biggest draw is just how freakin’ flattering it is. It lifts and supports the girls (no bra required), whittles in the waist and flows out into a swingy skirt at just the right spot to allow for plenty of dining and imbibing without the risk of feeling stuffed.”
Here’s a “beautiful dress,” says Jessie C, an Abercrombie & Fitch buyer. “I am 5'10 and it's always been so hard to find maxi dresses long enough for me. I LOVE that I was able to order this in tall! The embroidery is exquisite and it's so lightweight and yet dramatic. [It’s the] perfect vacation dress or for a summer wedding guest.” She does warn that it may not be supportive enough for busty women, as the neckline sits low and the straps are very thin.
Meet your go-to vacation dress, people. It has an all-over crochet stitching that’s absolutely gorgeous, and I just love the contrasting black and white details. The knit fabric will provide the ultimate flexibly and breathability (courtesy of the holes). If you’re not into the whole sheer moment, the added lining underneath give you some coverage.
It’s the summer of the drop-waist silhouette, and I, for one, am leaning into the trend. Starting with this tangerine maxi dress. With a whopping 4.7 stars from Abercrombie & Fitch customers, reviews say that it's comfortable, super flattering and subtly sexy with the cutouts along the sides and back of the dress. Oh, and did I mention there are pockets?
Make sure to pack this in your beach bag the next time you head out for a quick dip. The easy-fitting midi skirt is the ultimate cover-up, taking you from water to fine wine and dining al fresco in no time. The removable (and adjustable) belt is such a chic addition to the button-up shirtdress , as is the chest pocket.
If you haven’t embraced one of the hottest summer fashion trends taking over the masses yet, now’s your time to do so. Here’s a mini dress version of the look that just so happens to be another best selling piece from the brand. Cut from a soft linen-blend fabric that’s breathable and lightweight, it's an ideal option to pack for all of your summer vacations. And while the front pockets aren’t functional, they add a nice finishing touch.
