SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Baseball fans in South Bend are in for a treat as MLB Hall of Famer Fred “Crime Dog” McGriff heads to Four Winds Field next Friday, July 26. The celebrated slugger will make a memorable appearance as the South Bend Cubs face off against the Peoria Chiefs.

McGriff, a five-time MLB All-Star renowned for his impressive 19-year career, will engage with fans by signing autographs and throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. His signing session will take place on the concourse starting at 7:05 p.m., though this timing may be adjusted.

The former Chicago Cub began his Major League journey with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1986 and enjoyed a prolific stint with the Atlanta Braves from 1993 to 1997. During his time with the Braves, McGriff earned three consecutive All-Star selections and celebrated a World Series victory in 1995. After contributing to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, McGriff joined the Cubs in July 2001, concluding his MLB career with Chicago. He retired in 2005 and was enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, last year.

McGriff’s visit is part of a collaboration with the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI) to advocate for sober driving. Attendees can pledge to always have a designated driver and enter to win a VIP experience with McGriff.

Tickets for the game are available here. Don’t miss this chance to meet a baseball legend and enjoy an exciting night at the ballpark!
