Maluma Designed a Bespoke Jacob & Co. Watch and Necklace in Honor of His New Album

Maluma already has a one-of-nine Jacob & Co. timepiece in his collection, but now he has an even rarer one-of-one, too.

The Colombian singer-songwriter recently commissioned Jacob & Co. to create a bespoke watch and pendant necklace to celebrate his new album 1 of 1 .

Christened the “Don Juan,” the custom wrist candy is based on the American watchmaker’s iconic Opera Godfather model . Inspired by 1972’s The Godfather , the original tourbillon features many visual, symbolic, and graphic references to Francis Ford Coppola’s award-winning film. The watch is also equipped with a music box that plays Nino Rota’s ubiquitous soundtrack on demand. Maluma’s piece doesn’t have the usual nods to Don Corleone, but rather an array of details that pay homage to the 30-year-old Medellín native.

Crafted from a mix of titanium and 18-carat rose gold, the 49 mm case houses a triple-axis tourbillon and twin music box complications with two cylinders that rotate against individual combs. The dial showcases a mix of 18-karat rose gold and purple lacquered pieces. The two music boxes are emblazoned with Maluma’s logos: the plate sports an “M,” while the piano shows “DJ.” His signature crown motif has also been recreated in 3-D form, with a miniature rose-gold crown occupying pride of place at the center of the movement. Speaking of which, the in-house, manual-winding JCFM04 caliber beats at a frequency of 3 Hz and delivers a power reserve of 42 hours. The one-off is priced at $400,000.

As for the bling, Maluma personally designed the custom necklace in collaboration with Jacob & Co. The hand-crafted piece pays homage to the previous generations of Colombian artists who paved the way for today’s musicians. The design also tips a hat to the title track of Maluma and Blessd’s new collaborative album. The song “1 of 1,” which is an ode to being completely one-of-a-kind, actually features the founder’s voice. “‘One of one’ means to me that there is nothing like it in the entire world,” the jewelry and watch designer says. “You are one of one.”

Crafted from 18-karat white and yellow gold, the unique necklace centers around a large cassette pendant that measures roughly 4.5 by 2.7 inches. The chain and pendant are adorned with 25.85 carats of white brilliant-cut round diamonds (1477 stones) and 5.87 carats of black round pave diamonds (439 stones).

Immediately after the album release on June 6, Maluma met with Jacob & Co. execs in Paris, France to unbox his goodies. Judging by the pics, he was very pleased with his one-of-ones, too.
