Initially scheduled for a June release, the makers decided to push the date due to unforeseen circumstances. The film is set to compete at the box office with the already running contenders, including Vicky Kaushal’s Bad Newz, Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, and Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira.

The anticipation for Raayan skyrocketed with the release of its trailer, showcasing Dhanush in a gory action role. The trailer begins with a dramatic scene showing a wounded Raayan, played by Dhanush, being tended to by a family member.

This is followed by a powerful monologue from Raayan’s father, who explains, “The most dangerous animal in the jungle is not a lion or a tiger, but a wolf. If they face each other one-on-one, the lion will beat the wolf. But a wolf is very intelligent. They come as a pack, round the lion up, and then destroy it.”

SJ Suryah plays Raayan’s primary antagonist. The trailer crescendos with scenes of Dhanush’s character on a relentless killing spree, supported by Sundeep Kishan and Kalidas Jayaram. The dramatic tension is further amplified by AR Rahman’s evocative score.

Furthermore, Raayan has been surrounded by various plot speculations. Initially described as a gangster film, recent reports suggest that Dhanush’s character might be a police informer. Whether he is a gangster disguised as a restaurant owner or a police informer, the suspense of his character’s true identity will only be revealed after the release.

The film has received an A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), as announced by Sun Pictures. In addition, Raayan has a runtime of 2 hours and 25 minutes.

Kalidas Jayaram expressed his excitement about joining the film, describing the experience as new and challenging. “Raayan’s world is completely new to me. I thoroughly enjoyed filming it, as it was different and challenging for me to speak in the north Madras slang and look the part,” Jayaram said. He credited the actor cum director for guiding him through the process, describing him as a master of Madras Tamil.

Dushara Vijayan also shared her enthusiasm, recounting how she was surprised and honored to receive a call from Sreyas S to join the project. “Out of nowhere, I got a call from Sreyas S (CEO of Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films) that Dhanush sir was making this film with Sun Pictures and that they would like me to play a character. It felt like the universe was giving me some sort of sign.”

Despite initial reports suggesting that Selvaraghavan wrote the script, it has been confirmed that Dhanush himself penned Raayan’s script. AR Rahman composed the music for the film, with Om Prakash cinematography and Prasanna GK editing.

While the official OTT partner for Raayan has not yet been announced, it is expected that the film will be available on SunNXT following its theatrical release. As the release date approaches, excitement continues to build for this highly anticipated film.
