Cloudy skies on a rainy Monday morning

We’re in a very soupy pattern for the new work week, with high chances of rain and thick humidity.

Today, skies are expected to stay mostly cloudy with morning showers across the Piedmont.

By afternoon, showers will be mainly along the Blue Ridge with only isolated showers in the rest of the Piedmont.

Highs will be around 83° and the chance of rain is 50%.

Clouds stay put overnight with lows near 70°.

Rain chances rise to between 70% and 85% Tuesday through Thursday, and during this time, we could log 2″ to 3″ in area rain gauges!

Temperatures will be in the mid-80s on Tuesday and Wednesday, then dip into the upper-70s on Thursday.

A cold front will be approaching from the northwest by the end of the work week and is expected to cross the Piedmont Saturday morning.

Ahead of the front, we’ll have a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday with a high near 80°.

Rain chances begin to diminish on Saturday to 40%, then fall below 20% on Sunday.  Highs through the weekend will stay in the mid-80s.
