    West Virginia ranks as one of the worst school systems in new 2024 study

    West Virginia has been called one of the worst school systems in a new 2024 study according to WalletHub.

    WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 32 key measures of quality and safety. The data set ranges from the pupil-teacher ratio and dropout rate to median standardized-test scores. With the data used by WalletHub, West Virginia ranked 46th out of 51.

    West Virginia ranked near the bottom is a few categories that include: Math Test Scores (49th), Reading Test Scores (50th), and Median SAT score (T-49th).

    The Mountain State was considered excellent in one category: Dropout Rate. West Virginia has the lowest dropout rate, which is 2.7 times lower than in the District of Columbia, the highest, according to Wallethub.
