Obama Campaign Guru Explains Kamala Harris Messaging Against Trump to Morning Joe: ‘She’s a Prosecutor. He’s a Criminal’

Davide Plouffe summed up Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign message in a race against former President Donald Trump in six simple words: “She’s a prosecutor. He’s a criminal,”

Plouffe is the highly regarded campaign advisor widely praised as the chief architect behind President Barack Obama’s two successful runs for the White House in 2008 and for reelection in 2012.  He appeared on Morning Joe Monday morning to offer insights on Vice President Harris and her surprising turn as the leading candidate to be the nominee in the 2024 general election against Trump.

Joe Scarborough suggested that Harris would be wise to beef up her campaign staff with some “ Nick Saban -types,” who can help current campaign manager Jen O’Malley-Dillon, eventually suggesting that Plouffe could join the effort.

Plouffe was respectfully cool on that idea, but he summed up how he would frame a Harris campaign in a remarkably pithy manner.

“The good news for Jen [O’Malley-Dixon] and Kamala Harris and everybody is if they have pieces they have to fill in, there’ll be plenty of people willing to do it,” Plouffe replied before spelling out the challenge and noting he thinks “Kamala Harris is up to it.”

“I’ve been very impressed by her appearances in interviews over the last few weeks. And she’s a prosecutor, and he’s a criminal. I like that match up,” Plouffe flatly said, before adding:

Let’s not forget, the biggest issue in this campaign was Joe Biden’s age. If Donald Trump gets elected, if he’ll be older than Joe Biden on Inauguration Day. Okay. And this guy is showing serious signs of unfitness. Yes. In terms of his character and the positions he holds. But in terms of his decline, he, he is really, really having trouble reading the teleprompter. He obviously the the RNC speech was bad in tone, but he couldn’t follow instructions there. So so this should give us all great pause. So I’m excited about this. And I think the Trump camp doesn’t seem like they were prepared for this, which is perhaps they might have been. And they seem like they’re kind of grasping. I guess we’re talking about plastic straws and whatnot, which is not a compelling message.
