PUTNAM COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man is arrested after he tried breaking into a house because he said bobcats were chasing him.

On July 15th, a Putnam County Deputy responded to a report of a breaking and entering in progress on Crooked Ridge Rd. in Putnam County, WV.

The caller indicated that someone was banging on her door, shouting, and attempting to gain entry. She mentioned that the individual had opened the locked screen door and was trying to access the main door.

Upon arrival, the deputy encountered Brian Bailey on the front porch, who appeared to be highly agitated, shouting and pacing. Brian claimed that Bobcats were chasing him and feared for his life.

It was evident that he was under the influence of some substance; he was sweating heavily, speaking incoherently, and his pupils were severely constricted.

During a search for weapons, a bag of marijuana was found in Brian’s pocket, leading to his detention.

Multiple trespassing signs were visible on the property and along the driveway from which Brian said he had come, and the latch on the screen door was damaged.

The woman confirmed that Brian was not allowed on the property and did not want him there. The deputy arrested Brian Bailey for destruction of property, trespassing, disorderly conduct, and possession of marijuana.
