He Might Not Have Had A Vintage Major Season, But Brooks Koepka Did Something No Other LIV Golfer Managed In 2024

So, there we have it - the men's Major Championship season is all done and dusted for another year, Xander Schauffele taming Royal Troon to add the Claret Jug to the Wanamaker Trophy that he lifted following his PGA Championship success in May.

Major season started with The Masters, of course, with Scottie Scheffler pulling on the Green Jacket for a second time, after which Schauffele broke his Major duck in winning the PGA Championship.

It could, and perhaps should, have been Rory McIlroy who won the US Open, but he was left heartbroken by a couple of short missed putts late on, which opened the door for Bryson DeChambeau - and the American grabbed the opportunity to claim his second US Open title.

Schauffele was in a league of his own on the west coast of Scotland, and his scintillating final-round 65 was simply too good.

Throughout the season, it has been interesting to see how those players competing on LIV have fared in the Major Championships.

Some LIV players have been unable to compete in the 'big 4' because they have not been able to accumulate enough Official World Golf Ranking points .

However, there can be little doubt that when the best players in the world come together it makes for a far more entertaining tournament.

After the conclusion of The Open, we were left with just one LIV player to make the cut at every 2024 Major - Brooks Koepka.

DeChambeau was sitting pretty at the top of the combined scores leaderboard heading into The Open, but the US Open champion was out of sorts at Royal Troon and missed the cut.

Koepka, meanwhile, finished in a tie for 43rd spot - probably not a result the five-time Major champion will remember with much fondness, but it does mean he's the only LIV player to make the cut in all four Major Championships.

LIV Golf leaderboard at the 2024 Open:

    • T7: -1 Jon Rahm
    • T16: +2 John Catlin
    • T19: +3 Dean Burmester
    • T31: +6 Dustin Johnson

    • T50: +9 Adrian Meronk
    • T58: +10 Joaquin Niemann
    • T58: +10 Abraham Ancer
