    Man killed in single-vehicle wreck in Orangeburg County Sunday evening

    A man was killed Sunday night when his car ran off the road and overturned, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

    The single-vehicle wreck happened around 7:15 p.m. Sunday in Orangeburg County, said Lance Cpl. Lena Butler.

    The man was driving a 2006 Toyota Avalon eastbound on Branchdale Highway near Rock Hill Road where the car ran off the right side of the road and overturned, Butler said. That area is about 5 miles north of Holly Hill.

    The driver died at the scene, according to Butler.

    T wo other passengers in the car were injured and taken to a local hospital.

    Information about what caused the car to veer off the road was not available, but the crash continues to be investigated by the Highway Patrol.

    Last year, 1,030 people died in crashes in South Carolina, Department of Public Safety reported.
