A dad to a Golden Retriever decided to recreate the video they took on their very first car ride home after adopting, and it's actually quite moving.
On July 15, 2024, TikTok user A Guy and a Golden (@aguyandagolden) recreated their very first video together to show what they looked like then and what they look like now, and it's really sweet. Take a look!
In a quick 11-second video , we meet up with a guy and a Golden Retriever named Teddy.

The two are sitting in the car together, not driving though. Dad is sitting in the driving seat and behind the camera while Teddy is in the passenger seat.
Teddy has a huge smile on his face as his Dad gives him a scratch behind his ear.
"Show your dog now vs when you brought him home..." the text on the screen reads.
Dad then put his hand down from scratching Teddy's ear, and the sweet dog placed his paw on top of his hand, and it was really sweet.
Then, about six seconds into the clip, the scene changes. It looks like the recording is in the same car with Dad behind the camera but the Golden Retriever is just a little, adorable puppy.
It turns out that tiny puppy is Teddy, but it was from four years ago, and this was the first time the two were in the car together. Dad had just adopted Teddy, and now they're going home, and this is the moment they had just recreated in the previous scene.
The baby Teddy clip even started with his small paws on Dad's arm, so you can really see just how much the doggy has grown .
The video's caption reads, "Different size, same puppy." And in the comments, it's very clear this sweet video really touched people's hearts.
One person wrote, "Awww and he had no idea how famous he would become, and how loved!," speaking about the pup's now 8.3 million follower on the app.
Another commenter shared, "Baby Teddy! Oh, my heart."
Someone else added, "You were Teddy's from the beginning."
A TikTok user admitted, "I love Teddy like he's my own. But Baby Teddy would have me wrapped all the way around him!"
And someone else shared, "I’m not tearing up at all! Ahhh Teddy you’re precious at all stages."
Golden Retrievers Are Known for Keeping Their Playful Puppy Vibes Into Adulthood
According to the American Kennel Club , Golden Retrievers live on average between 10 to 12 years, but their age doesn't always match up with their energy levels.
The organization shares that Goldens are outgoing, trustworthy, and eager-to-please family dogs and relatively easy to train. They take a joyous and playful approach to life and maintain this puppyish behavior into adulthood.
That fun playfulness combined with their love for live, play, and endless energy really feeds into how puppy-like they are even when they're rounding into their senior years.
The American Kennel Club explained, "These energetic, powerful gundogs enjoy outdoor play. For a breed built to retrieve waterfowl for hours on end, swimming and fetching are natural pastimes."
Hopefully other dog parents are inspired to recreate their first going home video or photo too because these are 100% adorable.
