Good morning and welcome back to Monday. The toasty temperatures from the weekend will continue through Wednesday so stay cool and hydrated.

Coastal areas will continue to be spared from the heatwave as low morning clouds and patchy fog continue. Highs for the beaches will be in the mid 70s and mid 80s for the inland coast.

Forecasters issued heat advisories for Santa Clarita, San Fernando Valley, Santa Monica mountains and the Inland Empire valleys and mountains, where highs will range between 95 to 106 today and the next couple of days.

An excessive heat warning has been issued for the San Gabriel Mountains, Inland Empire and the deserts — expect a high of 109 degrees today for the high desert and up to 113 degrees for Coachella Valley.

Forecasters say there will be poor air quality over the Inland Empire until 2 p.m. due to nearby wildfire smoke.

Overnight lows will be a bit warmer in the interior areas with highs in the low 70s and 80s for the deserts. Read why that's a health risk.

    Things to do

    Beat the heat!

    • Daytime Swim Passes: Sometimes it feels like everyone else has access to a beautiful turquoise pool on a hot day and we’re stuck gazing over the fence. Don’t let that be you! Many hotels offer access to their pools for a small fee – even if you’re not staying there. For a weekday dip, check out the Dream Hollywood, which offers daytime swim passes all summer, Monday through Wednesday.
