Manchester City have their sights set on Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze to replace outgoing Kevin De Bruyne.

According to The Mirror , City are mulling a move for Eze amid concerns over their Belgium star's future at the club.

The 33-year-old has now entered the final year of his contract at the Etihad Stadium, and there has been a cloud of uncertainty around his long-term future for a few months now.

There has been talk of an extension with Pep Guardiola's side, but not much progress has been made, so the Citizens run the risk of losing him in 2025 for nothing.

Although transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has come out to play down reports suggesting De Bruyne has already agreed personal terms with Al Ittihad ahead of a big-money move to Saudi Arabia, City are seemingly planning for his potential exit.

Man City join race for Eberechi Eze

City have entered the race for Palace star Eze, who is also on the radars of Tottenham and Arsenal, according to the above Mirror report.

The 26-year-old is arguably one of the best creative midfielders in the Premier League, having scored 11 goals and provided six assists for the Eagles last season, catching the attention of several top clubs.

His contract is said to contain a £68 million ($87m) release clause, and as was previously mentioned, north London duo Tottenham and Arsenal are both quite interested in activating it.

However, it is reported that both Spurs and Arsenal would be left "powerless" if the serial title winners do come in in a big way to land Eze's services. It is believed that Pep Guardiola has a "long-standing admiration for Eze" and view him as a perfect successor to Al Ittihad-linked De Bruyne.
