DES MOINES, Iowa — Following news of President Joe Biden dropping out of the 2024 presidential election and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris, Iowa politicians weighed in.

Rita Hart, Chairman of the Iowa Democratic Party had this to say when asked about President Biden’s decision: ” President Biden’s endorsement obviously means a great deal. It means that, you know, his willingness to put his legacy into Kamala Harris’s hands speaks volumes. It speaks volumes about her competency, her experience that she has gained as vice president. And so, so that means a great deal. I also am sure that the delegates recognize that this is going to be their decision, their process. But I absolutely think that Iowa Democrats can rally around Kamala Harris as our nominee. But we’re very early in this process. So we will see what happens as the hours and days go by. Going forward.”

United States Senator Charles Grassley said in a post on X, “The American ppl are sick & tired of the Biden-Harris open border policies + high cost of living crushing family budgets. A change in candidate doesn’t fool anyone.”.

Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird also posted on X saying “Democrats have destroyed this country over the last 4 years. And no matter who they replace Biden with, they all have to own that record of failure.”
