If it walks and talks like an animal, it’s probably at the Yamhill County Fair

Ready to get down and dirty?

The Yamhill County Fair, from July 31 to Aug. 3, is no doubt bringing the action when it comes to all things livestock.

    Livestock auction

The popular livestock auction — where more than 200 exhibitors will sell off their steers, lambs, goats, turkeys, chickens, rabbits and hogs — will begin at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 3 in the beef/dairy barn show ring.

Those wishing to purchase an animal should pre-register by emailing yamhillcountylivestockauction@gmail.com in order to participate in the auction, although day-of-auction registrations are possible as well.

“After registration, you will be given a buyer packet, which will include your bidder number and further information regarding the bidding process,” the website says.

    4-H and FFA

Along the same line, the fair’s legendary 4-H and FFA exhibits will see hundreds of youths display everything from livestock to horticulture exhibits. The line-up includes horses in the 4-H Leaders Barn, Thompson Bar and Evergreen Barn; small animals in the small animals barn; sheep and goats in the Harding Barn; swine in the Hall Barn; beef and dairy in the beef and dairy barns; horticulture exhibits in the Wiser Pavilion and static exhibits in the Leslie Lewis Pavilion.
