1. “We Didn’t Start the Fire” (Billy Joel)

We likely don’t need to explain why someone could potentially have a problem with “We Didn’t Start the Fire.” It’s like sonic molasses. Some love it. Others hate it. We’re focusing on the latter group. Many fans found Billy Joel‘s attempt to recount the last few decades in history a little heavy-handed. Pair that with its repeating (almost ad nauseam) melody and you have a song that many would rather turn off than turn up.

2. “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” (KISS)

When you think of KISS, you don’t normally think of disco. In fact, their unique brand of glam metal typically leaned toward the harder sides of rock music. Nevertheless, the band decided to get a little dane-y with “I Was Made For Lovin’ You.” While they certainly succeeded in writing a pop-oriented hit, it made some fans uneasy. Like with any big change, a large number of people had trouble getting on board with their newfound sonic direction.

3. “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” (Aerosmith)

Similar to “I Was Made For Lovin’ You,” this Aerosmith songs feels a little schmaltzy for the rough-and-tumble rockers fans know and love. Of course, “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” was released a little after the band washed their hands of their debaucherous younger days (maybe not entirely). With that in mind, this power ballad came right in time to give Aerosmith a little sprucing up. However, not all of their fans can get down with how sugary sweet this track is.
