Meyer, who separated from the “Spider-Man” star in 2016 before filing for divorce four years later, called the actress and the Coldplay frontman’s “beautiful breakup” an “example.”
She recalled, “Right when Tobey and I were starting to break up, I watched what Gwyneth Paltrow was starting to do with Chris — this conscious uncoupling that everyone was making fun of.
“I got to see it firsthand, and it was the most beautiful thing that I had ever witnessed two human beings go through. She was so loving and kind and open to him and she created this family.”
Meyer, 47, approached Paltrow, 51, and marveled over how different the Oscar winner’s divorce was from her parents’s split.
“I was like, ‘Wow, that’s not what I was taught growing up. I was taught that divorce was ugly … bad and would never be good,'” she remembered saying to Paltrow.
Meyer asked at the time, “‘How did you do that? Please, what do I do? Because we’re just starting to break up, and it’s feeling very scary. … How can we come together for [these] human[s] we both created that we love? What do we do?'”
Paltrow, in response, introduced Meyer to Dr. Habib Sadeghi.
“She didn’t tell me their process, she didn’t tell me anything,” Meyer noted. “She just said, ‘I have someone for you to meet with. Good luck,’ basically. Because I think you’ve got to give people their own process.”
“he was kindly helping a friend to her car. … And now he has [been] blasted online for dating someone he is not,” she told an Instagram user, according to Reddit screenshots.
In another comment, Meyer wrote, “don’t believe everything you read (I’m sure you were taught that somewhere) Tobey is as good of a guy as it gets.”
The Goop creator confessed, “We are all gray area. We all are trying our best. … Chris and I committed to putting [our kids] first, and that’s harder than it looks.”
