Good morning everyone. We have a continuing subtropical-like pattern which is very summer-appropriate, but more widespread and more needed due to our drought. Yesterday, many drought-stricken areas saw much-needed rain, and we should see a repeat today over many of the same parts.

In the Northeast, our warm and dry pattern goes more warm & moist today. Humidity increases throughout the region with low to mid 80's today, then we introduce more clouds and widespread on & off heavy showers and storms tomorrow through Thursday. Although for interior parts of the Northeast today, we could see some scattered strong storms in the late afternoon/evening.

That is the theme for many areas today, with widespread popcorn showers and storms with the help of abundant instability, moisture, and sunshine working the land. Look for a repeat today in areas of central Texas, parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, and parts of the Mid-Atlantic. Much like yesterday, they will also weaken a few hours after sunset.

While most of the storms will remain on the strong side, some could reach severe limits in isolated form. As stated before, look for a repeat of yesterday, which means no widespread severe thunderstorm watches, but individual severe thunderstorm warnings as they pop up. Some of these storms will be capable of large hail, frequent lightning, damaging winds, torrential rain, and isolated tornadoes.

Stay tuned to your local agencies for the latest watches and warnings. Here is your local NYC Metro Forecast -

For today, humidity increases under a mix of sun & clouds. Look for highs in the low to mid 80's with the slight chance of a PM shower or storm. Widespread mid 80's are expected tomorrow, with mostly cloudy skies and muggy conditions. We'll have a better chance of heavy showers and storms tomorrow afternoon.

Look for more of the same on Wednesday and Thursday, with numerous showers and storms & miggy mid 80's. We dry out on Friday and push back into the upper 80's under sunshine.

The weekend continues to look very warm/hot, with sunshine and near 90 temps.
