New England Patriots Receive Brutal Prediction For 2024

This offseason was the end of an era for the New England Patriots. Long-time head coach Bill Belichick and the franchise parted ways, meaning a new leader on the sidelines for the first time since 1999.

Taking over for the legendary head coach is his former linebacker, Jerod Mayo. Mayo and new front office leader Eliot Wolf have their hands full turning things around in New England.

Last season, the New England Patriots went 4-13, putting together one of the worst seasons in franchise history. Some bright spots existed defensively, but the offense left a lot to be desired.

Underwhelming quarterback play was most often the culprit. Looking to change that, the team used the No. 3 overall pick on North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye.

Maye will need some time to develop, but his upside is immense. Once they are able to build the roster up around him, the New England Patriots will be back on the path to prominence.

However, that return will take more than one offseason. Given how the current roster looks and with a rookie head coach, 2024 could be a bumpy road.

How bumpy? In the opinion of Maurice Moton of Bleacher Report, the team will be in the mix for the top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Moton has predicted that the New England Patriots will go under on their win total of 4.5 games in 2024. One of the reasons Moton believes tough times lie ahead is the lack of established identity.

“With a game manager or somewhat of a rookie project under center and a defense in need of a bounce-back year, the Patriots have a low ceiling in terms of win potential. They’re a three-to-four-win team that may get worse before it shows improvement.

Also, remember that Belichick’s disciples have generally struggled to run the show as head coaches,” Moton wrote.

There certainly isn’t a lot to get excited about with the New England Patriots heading into the 2024 season. Seeing Maye and the offense hopefully looking more competent would be a win in many people’s eyes.

Another season near the bottom of the standings comes with one positive; a top pick in the draft. With their quarterback of the future already in place, New England could be in a position to land a treasure trove of assets in a potential trade.
