During his guest appearance on Good Morning America , actor Hugh Jackman opened up about the life-changing moment he decided to reprise his role as the Wolverine .
As the highly anticipated Deadpool & Wolverine premieres in theaters this Friday, Jackman opened up about the moment he knew he wanted to, once again, star as the fierce antihero. After previously announcing that he was retiring from the Marvel character, Jackman revealed the moment he had a change of heart and called up his long-time friend Ryan Reynolds to announce that he was once again ready to take on the role.
On GMA, Jackman was questioned about the news that he was retiring from Wolverine in 2017 to which he joked: "The best lies are the ones that you believe yourself," and went on to add: "After announcing it I watched Deadpool 1 and somewhere in my head I was like oops."

The 55-year-old actor explained: "It was these two characters of course have their own special place in comic book lore but I could see it and the chance to work with Ryan? And so it took a while to come around to it but one day, August 14th 2022, I was driving down east and I was just on the LIA and I went 'I want to do the movie.' And I pulled over and I rang Ryan cause I knew he was getting ready to start shooting and thankfully he said yes."
Ryan then chimed in: "He said he wasn't going to do it again I had the same reaction like 'Oh come on, finally put these guys together.'" And went on to joke: "When a friend calls you in this day and age like someone's dead. And it took a full two sentences before I realized that he was alive and it was just the call that quite literally changed my life."
In the upcoming action comedy, Wolverine will be recovering from his injuries when he crosses paths with the loudmouth, Deadpool played by Reynolds. The unlikely duo will then be teaming up to defeat a common enemy together as Wolverine enters the MCU universe.
After Jack and Ryan's apperance on Good Morning America, fans took to Instagram gushing over the hilariously charming pair and their long-time friendship. One viewer wrote: "Love this!! And Love it!! Absolutely awesome, hilarious and amazing FRIENDSHIP!!" And another added: "They are seriously my favorite!!!" And a third complimented: "Two handsome man in the building."
