Hunter Biden has voluntarily dismissed his lawsuit against Fox News , according to a Sunday legal filing.

Biden dropped his case against the media corporation the same day his father, President Joe Biden, dropped out of the presidential race. It's unknown if the events were related.

Hunter Biden originally filed the lawsuit over Fox News's The Trial of Hunter Biden series, with his attorneys saying the “series intentionally manipulates the facts, distorts the truth, narrates happenings out of context, and invents dialogue intended to entertain.”

The attorneys also took concern with the outlet’s publication of photos “depicting him in the nude … as well as engaged in sex acts.”

The lawsuit fulfilled a threat made by Hunter Biden’s lawyers that they would sue over the series, which the network took down in April. The series on Fox Nation, its streaming service, offered a fictionalized version of how a trial against Hunter Biden might look. The television personality overseeing it, Judge Joe Brown, warned viewers that what they were seeing was not a real trial and that Hunter Biden was not facing charges.

“Far from reporting on a newsworthy event, Fox sought to commercialize Mr. Biden’s personality through a form of treatment distinct from the dissemination of news or information,” the lawsuit states.

“Indeed, the entire miniseries is fictionalized and based on a nonexistent criminal case. While using certain true information, the series intentionally manipulates the facts, distorts the truth, narrates happenings out of context, and invents dialogue intended to entertain," the lawsuit continues. "Thus, the viewer of the series cannot decipher what is fact and what is fiction, which is highly damaging to Mr. Biden."

Biden’s attorneys cited three causes of action: A violation of Biden’s civil rights due to the intimate images “disseminated and published” by Fox, alleged intentional infliction of emotional distress by Fox, and Fox News’s alleged unjust enrichment from the series.

“This entirely politically motivated lawsuit is devoid of merit," Fox News said in a statement when the lawsuit was first reported. "The core complaint stems from a 2022 streaming program that Mr. Biden did not complain about until sending a letter in late April 2024. The program was removed within days of the letter, in an abundance of caution, but Hunter Biden is a public figure who has been the subject of multiple investigations and is now a convicted felon. Consistent with the First Amendment, FOX News has accurately covered the newsworthy events of Mr. Biden’s own making, and we look forward to vindicating our rights in court.”
